Dr Jacqueline Mims established Eclectic Cognitive Behavioral Center (formerly Eclectic Rehabilitation Counseling Services) in 1989. Dr. Mims is a Psychotherapist, Lecturer, and Consultant with more than 20 years of clinical experience working with individuals, families, and organizations.  Her passion for both psychology and special education compelled her to earn two doctorate degrees — Doctorate Degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University (formerly University of Sarasota); and a second Doctorate Degree in Special Education from Southern University.  An advocate of life-long learning,  she continues to broaden her understanding of cognition and behavior, and its impact on learning and development with post-graduate training in Psychoeducational Therapy from  the National Institute for Learning Development, and the University of California at Santa Cruz.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Mims is an Instructor of Psychology at Baton Rouge Community College.  She is a former elected representative of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, having served as President and Vice President during four terms (14 years) in office.   Her work has been influenced by her children’s exceptionalities (ADD, dyslexia, giftedness, etc.), as well as her own experiences as an individual with a learning disability.  Dr. Mims holds numerous licensures and certifications in the areas of education, mental health, and rehabilitation counseling, to include:
